Heart Art

For christmas i tried to make all my family a hand made gift.
I made this easy string heart art piece, this is how i did it.

All you need:
A piece of wood.
Nails
Paper
Hammer
Colour thread

Step 1: Create a paper template, i chose a heart.
Step 2: Hammer nails into the wood following the template.

Step 3: Once the nails are in, remove the paper and tie the thread between the nails.

Finished a perfect thread art piece.

Varsity Jumper

I'm loving the American Varsity look  which has been a massive trend.
It was my sisters 30th so instead of the typical 30th gifts, i came up with a great idea.
I took her birth year of 1984  on to a varsity style jumper as a nice present.

The varsity jumper was so easy...all you need is:
1.Plain jumper (I got mine from H&M)
2.Leather style material.
3. Colourful tread ( I chose orange)

First cut out the numbers in the leather and pin on to the jumper.

Sew the numbers on with the colour thread making it even all the way round.
Final jumper - i'm thinking of doing a initials varsity style jumper next!!!

Autumn is here and so is the swing 60's!

I'm actually excited to be moving in to the Autumn season... and judging from the catwalks and the high street A/W collections i wont be stuck for wardrobe ideas.

So the swing 60's were back on the catwalks and i'm very happy about this....i love 60's fashion its so elegant while being a little naughty at the same time! The great mini skirt, the tailored skirt suits and my favourite bold colours and prints - including Leopard print.

Here are some of my favourite looks:

Fabulous Furs
Chloe A/W14

Givenchy A/W14

Little lady bags
Louise Vuitton A/W14

 Jackie O Tailoring
DSquared2 A/W14
 Lovely Leopard Print
DSquared2 A/W14
Only 60's inspired garments i could find...
mini skirt, vintage knee high boots and a short petter pan collar dress.

Therefore my 60's fashion wish list continues...i have my heart set on a skirt suit, roll neck jumpers and of course more leopard print!

A TRUE ROMAN HOLIDAY (AND SHOPPING OF COURSE!)

So i have just come back from a holiday in Italy and it was beautiful out there!
Just what i expected, was like going back in time...roman ruins and retro vespas everywhere!

I'm a massive Audrey Hepburn fan and was pleased to get a chance to experience Rome like she did in Roman Holiday...Sadly i'm not an escaped Princess.

Italian fashion inspiration for my packing...

STYLISH SOUVENIRS

One of the best things about holidays is finding hidden gems like the below which no one back home will have.

Brought some great Italian goodies:
1. Nautical Jumper from Sorrento - 15 euros
2. Beautiful statement necklace - 5 euros
3. Real leather (chanel style) bag - 60 euros
SORRENTO JUMPER
I think this jumper has a cool retro feel and works well when put with denim shorts.
STATEMENT NECKLACE

There was a jewellery shop in Sorrento and this necklace was calling for me to buy it!
I love the chunky beads and flower detail...to me this is like something you would find in Zara..however instead of costing £30 this was only 5 euros! Such a bargain.

LEATHER BAG
"Italy is the land of the Leather" would be a same not to have brought something!!
I always wanted a Chanel bag however bank account will not stretch to that.
This grey quilted bag is perfect plus being real Italian leather is a bonus!
Was hard picking a colour though...there were so many!! May need to go back.

Made me want to draw again!

Miss Magpie Fashion Spy

I came across this fashion illustrator at work and i think her work is stylish fun at its best.

She has worked for any fashion houses and for adverts.

I think will be blowing dust off my watercolour set to try to creative similar drawings!

Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition

I finally went to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Barbican and i learnt there was much more to this famous fashion designer than just french punky stripy t shirts and pointy bras!!

FAVOURITE COLLECTION

This collection was amazing and highly dramatic.. with elements of italian religion saints and tutor royals.

FAMOUS LINGERIE

Jean Paul Gaultier is renown for his twist on lingerie by using different structures and materials.
He gave Madonna her famous pointy bust!

I would have loved to have tried on all the corsets!

MUSES - Jean Paul has any unconventional muses however Dita Von Teese is one i can imagine in most of his corsets.

So the nearest i will get to his beautiful underwear..is his perfumes. I have one already lets hope i can collect the lot!
